Reflecting on my Blog
4. EARLIER IN THE YEAR, I LEARNED THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING A QUIET SET WHILE SOMEONE ON CAMERA IS SPEAKING. YOU CAN SEE THAT IN MY FIRST FILM, I DIDNT'T DO THIS, ESPECIALLY IN THE SCENE WHEN ZACK IS SPEAKING AND YOU CAN HEAR ALL OF THE SIDE CONVERSATIONS GOING ON OFFSET. ON MY SECOND PROJECT, I LEARNED HOW TO CHOOSE MUSIC TO GO ALONG WITH THE MOOD OF THE FILM. A SCENE THAT SHOWS THIS WELL IS IN THE FILM "THE TRUTH ABOUT CYBERBULLYING" WHEN SABRENA TALKS ABOUT THE STATISTICS OF STUDENTS BEING INVOLVED IN CYBERBULLYING AND THE MUSIC GETS TO A SLOWER TEMPO AND HAS A MORE SERIOUS FEEL TO IT. LATER IN THE YEAR, I SHOWED THAT I REALLY HAD LEARNED THAT CONCEPT WELL, SINCE I SHOWED THIS IN OTHER PROJECTS. ONE GOOD EXAMPLE IS FROM "YOU FORGOT YOUR MONEY" IN THE SCENE WHEN JULISSA IS LOOKING AROUND SUSPICIOUSLY AFTER I HAD DROPPED THE MONEY AND THE MUSIC CUES TO A SUSPICIOUS RIFF AND IT MAKES THE AUDIENCE WONDER ABOUT WHAT SHE IS GOING TO DO.
5. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, I HAVE LEARNED A FEW THINGS BY WATCHING THE FILMS OF OTHER STUDENTS. FOR EXAMPLE I HAVE LEARNED THAT QUICK CUTS KEEP THE ENERGY MOVING AT A FAST PACE WHILE FADE AWAYS SLOW THINGS DOWN AND SHOW THAT A PERIOD OF TIME IS PASSING. I ALSO LEARNED THAT DIALOGUE IS NOT NECESSARY TO TELL THE AUDIENCE SOMETHING. IN "THE CRUSH" THE SCENE WHERE THE BOY IS SITTING ON THE BED STARING AT THE GUN SUGGESTS HE IS GOING TO KILL THE TEACHER'S FIANCE.
6. AS CLICHE AS IT SOUNDS, THIS CLASS HAS HELPED ME GROW AS PERSON. WITHOUT IT, I WOULD HAVE NEVER MET SOME OF THE PEOPLE I DID THIS YEAR. I CAN NO LONGER WATCH A MOVIE WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT ALL OF THE CUTS, IN POINTS, OUT POINTS, CAMERA ANGLES, ETC. AND I WANT TO THANK DR. A FOR IT ALL.

EXTRA CREDIT EFFECT CLIP
YOU FIND THE THRESHOLD EFFECT IN THE STYLIZE FOLDER AND THE WAVE WARP IN THE DISTORT FOLDER. YOU ADJUST THE EFFECT BY GOING TO THE EFFECT PANEL AND ADJUST THE WAVE TYPE, HEIGHT, WIDTH AND DIRECTION TO YOUR PLEASING. YOU MIGHT USE THIS EFFECT IN A SCENE WITH SOMEONE GOING INTO A FLASHBACK.

STANZA 6 - JABBERWOCK
WE USED THE LENS DISTORTION EFFECT THE BEST BECAUSE YOU CANNOT TELL WHAT THE ORIGINAL PHOTO IS OF AND ITS HARD TO MAKE OUT THE "THING" (JABBERWOCK) WHICH WORKS BECAUSE HOW DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT A JABBERWOCK LOOKS LIKE? WE WERE TRYING TO CONVEY A FEELING OF FEAR AND NOT KNOWING WHAT THE JABBERWOCK ACTUALLY IS

Thinking About Our Final Values Video
POSITIVE COMMENTS:
The positive comments that were meaningful to us were from Luis and Lizzy and Elisa and Damon. They told us that our video was almost perfect and they like how it all worked together, that was helpful because it made us feel proud of what we've accomplished. Inaddition they told us how they liked the message and that helped us see that we did a good job presenting the conflict and resolution.
Luis and Lizzy:
On a scale of 1-10, we rate the editing a 9. We think that if you have cleaner cuts your video will be more perfect than it already is
Zach and Sam:
We especially liked the close up shot of Julissa’s eyes because it helped emphasize the idea that Julissa was deciding weither or not to take the money.
Elissa and Damon:
We really liked the message and how everything worked together.
Maria and Demi:
We really like the shot of julissa's eyes whitch created an intense emotion.
SUGGESTIONS:
The two best suggestions we got were from Hayley and Kayla.
They suggested that use a fade between the shots of Ryan and Julissa bumping into eachother and then the medium shot of Ryan. We agree with this sugfestion and our plan is to look at it and maybe put a fade if it works.
Alicia and Jorge suggested that we put liz in the background to show that Julissa didn't know she was there from the begining. We agree with this suggestion and our plan could be to refilm a couple shots and then insert them.
Alicia and Jorge:
To add to your rising action, you could show a shot of Liz sort of in the background, emphasizing that Julissa did not see her watching the whole thing.
Alexis:
One part I would kinda fix would be the part where she looks around all crazy was bit outt set point.
Luis and Lizzy:
You could add to the resolution by showing how Ryan reacts when he gets his money back and what happens after that.
Hayley and Kayla:
We noticed that between the guy bumping into the girl and the guy talking, you used a straight cut when he steps back. We would have used a special effect transition instead, because it's really awkward that he hits her and then we're just right in his face a step back.

"You Forgot Your Money" rough draft
Our group is trying to represent the value of honesty. I think we planned everything out very well especially the shot types and angles, which helped us move along quickly with our filming. We only need to complete our director's cut to complete the video. We are wondering if some of the transitions are smooth enough or if we should convert some of the cuts to fades. One of the most chellenging things about the video was finding extras to be in our video. Without the extras, the video wouldn't have been as realistic to the situation. We decided that next time we need to ask people ahead of time so we have people prepared and ready to go.

Over The Shoulder
When my group planned our shots, we had to take height into consideration. In order to solve this problem, we decided to shoot ourselves as we were sitting. We also had to think about the sun's position and place ourselves accordingly. We did follow the rule of thirds because that was the only way we could see both people at once. Over the shoulder shots give the impression of seriousness between the two characters because you're only able to to see one character at a time. The final edit of the dialogue could have been a bit more realistic because there is some extra space between each sentence. The mood of the video is serious and we were able to do this by pausing a lot in the dialogue. While using over the shoulder, it's important to do all of one character's dialogue at one time so the camera position stays consistant.
